Mapping the Borders – Glass Map Making Workshop
25th November, 10am-4pm
Make your own glass map of the Scottish Borders using the historical map collection at the National Library of Scotland as a starting point. You will learn basic glass making techniques such as etching and engraving to build up a multi-layered glass map. No previous experience required. All materials supplied. Frame can be taken home afterwards for £10. Please bring your own lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided.
This class is taught by Borders-based artist Inge Panneels, who also lectures at the University of Sunderland based at the National Glass Centre. The ‘Ab-Sense’ Work featured in the Mapping the Borders exhibition is inspired by the iconic Borders abbeys.

Being Human is led by the University of London School of Advanced Studies, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the British Academy. Mapping the Borders will be a partnership between the University of Sunderland, Northumbria University, the National Library of Scotland and CABN, Live Borders.
